Tip for surviving child fundraisers:

Never enter a building that has child fundraisers camped outside. You may think you can ignore them, but you are wrong. Child fundraisers have no understanding of eye-contact avoidance, and will mob you if you get within 15 feet. They also have no concept of dignity and will plead and blink their disproportionately large eyes at you until you’ve traded large amounts of your cash for their crappy tins of popcorn.

Tip for surviving your carpool:

Make sure to verify everyone’s car before agreeing to carpool.

Employee Appreciation

This year our company gave out flashlights for employee appreciation gifts, which was fun and exciting as we now had something to play with during the intermittent power outages. Unfortunately, it turns out they tended to leak battery acid. Thankfully though, my company is both savvy and able to prioritize my need to avoid contact with sulfuric acid over my need to light up dark spaces, as they recalled the flashlights two weeks later.
